‘It is a very happy moment’: iPhone owners react to Apple’s purchase
Apple has acquired a majority stake in the mobile hardware maker Mango, a US online grocery store operator.
The purchase by Apple is the latest shakeup in Apple’s rapidly evolving digital business, which has seen the purchase of hardware from companies such as Amazon and Google.
Mango, which had been owned by Mango Holdings Inc since 2008, is the third major mobile hardware player to buy a majority share in Apple.
In the last few years, Apple has bought other online grocery retailers, including Amazon, which also operates online grocery stores.
Mango is owned by a group of investors including Microsoft, Google and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Apple also bought a majority interest in grocery delivery company GrabTaxi.
Apple did not comment on Mango’s business or the future of Mango.
MGI chief executive officer Joe Chen said in a statement on Wednesday that Mango had grown to over 3,000 stores in 15 countries and added that the purchase would enable the company to accelerate its growth.MGI has been a leader in the online grocery space since it acquired GrabTaxis in 2007.
In November, MGI said it would expand its grocery delivery business to include delivery from Apple, with the aim of reaching 200 million customers in 2021.
Apple said on Wednesday the acquisition of MGI will provide Apple with an online grocery market leader.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook said the purchase will allow MGI to accelerate the growth of its online grocery business and grow its customer base.
Cook added that MGI’s “robust network of stores” would provide Apple “an unparalleled delivery platform” that can reach customers throughout the world.
Mangos mobile hardware is already used in Apple devices including iPhones, iPads and Macs.
Apple’s purchase of Mgi comes just days after Apple said it will acquire local food delivery company Yoplait, bringing the total number of American grocery retailers to 10.
Apple is one of the world’s largest retailers, with over 3.4 billion online orders in 2019.
