Samsung’s new Kindle Fire HD 7-inch Tablet is finally here
Posted May 09, 2015 07:13:51The first new Kindle Fires have been announced.
The first new Amazon Kindle Fire tablet is Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 8.1, which has a 1280×800-pixel display and comes in black and gold.
The tablet is available in white, gray, and rose gold, which is what the company used to launch the original Galaxy Tab in 2014.
We’ve already seen a couple of tablets like this, and they’re really good at packing a nice big screen and getting decent battery life.
We’ll likely see the first of these models at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, as well as a couple more in other markets, including China.
The tablet ships in a two-year contract, so if you’re planning on buying one in 2018, you’re looking at about $650 or so.
The company’s first Kindle Fire was a bit less than a year old, and it was sold in two different color schemes: the black and white and rose Gold.
Samsung hasn’t announced a new color yet, but if you like your devices to look their best, you can order one in rose gold.
The Galaxy Tab is an odd choice for an Android tablet, because it’s the first tablet to ship with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.
It doesn’t have Android Pay or a TouchWiz interface, and you can’t use Google Assistant on the tablet.
Instead, you get Samsung’s TouchWise TouchWear.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a 5.7-inch, 1280×720 display, which isn’t bad.
It’s also very thin, weighing just 1.2 pounds (0.84kg).
The tablet packs a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 2,500mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel camera.
It also comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of box, a fast version of Android 6 that comes with a ton of security improvements and more.
Samsung is targeting the Galaxy Tab for its US and Europe markets.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected to be $599 or more, so we’ll have to wait and see what other countries will be getting this new tablet.
It looks like the Galaxy S7 Edge, which Samsung has been teasing for months, is also headed to the US and EU markets.
