A Walmart Indian store will open in Seattle this week, bringing to 15 the number of Walmart Indian stores in the US.
The store in Ballard, Washington, will open on Tuesday, March 22.
The store, at the corner of 2nd Avenue North and 7th Street West, will feature a full-service kitchen, laundry facilities, a fitness center, an office space, and several stores of merchandise including clothing, bedding, baby items, and kitchenware.
It will also have a wide range of other Walmart India products.
Walmart India’s Indian store locations will include Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
The Seattle store, which will also be the store of choice for shoppers who are looking for Indian groceries, will offer items from Indian brands such as KFC, Domino’s Pizza, and Pizza Hut.
Walmart Indian will also offer items made by Indian brands including Bajaj, Lava, and Tandoori.
The Seattle store is also slated to serve as a major logistics hub for Walmart India, with the store opening with about 200 employees and 200 to 300 employees in the store.
Walmart plans to use the Seattle store as a training and development hub for other Indian store chains.
In a statement, Walmart India said that the new Seattle store will be the first to be located in the Seattle metro area and it will offer a wide selection of Indian grocery, clothing, and home goods, along with other Walmart brands.
“The Seattle Seattle store has a strong following in India, and we are excited to be partnering with Walmart to serve this growing market with the widest selection of Walmart products,” said Michael T. Williams, Walmart’s global head of Indian retail operations.
“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Walmart in this market, which is a key market for Walmart.
This is a fantastic opportunity for us to help build our brand, to continue to grow our footprint, and to further our relationship with India.”
Walmart India plans to open at least five more Indian stores, including three new stores in Seattle, as it continues to expand into new markets.
